Blue Marble and Earth at Night Imagery from NASA

NASA has Blue Marble and Earth at Night imagery layers for Google Earth. These make great backgrounds to view data on.

The GIBS (Global Imagery Browse Services) version comes from their visualization product catalog here. The other version is from the NASA Earth Observatory (EOS). The GIBS version does not allow other imagery on top. The EOS version does, but the Blue Marble Layer is not available from the NASA Earth Observatory.

It combines higher quality imagery from here, which has been resized, that we replaced in the image overlay here, which contained lower quality imagery. Please note, this overlay may crash Google Earth if you do not have sufficient memory. Please save all the work on your computer before opening it.
